I was honored to spend some time with Jaxon and his family a few days ago. I certainly managed to get in a few snuggles to get my baby-fix taken care of for a few weeks. Isn’t he just adorable!?

Big Brother Aiden loves his brother … but he’s not quite ready to give up all of the spotlight yet.

I always have to chuckle when people tell me that I never take a bad picture of my kiddos.
I know the guy above is pretty darn cute … but as I listen to people telling me this, in my head I’m really thinking of pictures like the following …

Yeah, I guess I need to review how wind direction and hair interact.

The calendar says March, but Mother Nature is thinking it’s closer to May.
I was playing around outside yesterday and captured this. I don’t shoot a lot of macro images but there’s something about this that kept grabbing my attention Maybe it’s the fresh colors. Ten points to the first person to tell me what it actually is!

When Laura and I first started talking about her senior session, she mentioned she wanted to do some pictures of her in her prom dress in water. All during the planning stages I was excited … thinking of ways to have her stand in water with this gorgeous dress on.
The day of her session, as we’re walking down to the waters edge, I asked her (and MOM!) how much of the bottom of the dress we could get in the water. Both of them said that it didn’t matter. Cool … so maybe we can let the bottom few inches of the dress float in the water. After taking a few pictures on the edge of a sand bar, it became very obvious that Miss Laura wasn’t going to settle for that … she wanted to sit upstream in the water. After a glance at mom, we did just that. I’m pretty sure I can say that it’s the only shoot where I’ve almost lost a shoe in a foot of mud.

The rest of the session was pretty fun too!

Thanks Laura for trusting KKP with your senior session! I had so much fun with you and wish you luck as you head off to school this next fall!!

I love sessions that push the envelope just a little.
Yes, she’s SITTING in the water. And yes, that was one of her formal dresses.
Today I realized that I never posted images from Laura’s Senior session. Look for a full post tomorrow!!

I was so excited to meet up with Craig and Aimee at Quarry Hill last weekend. I’ve known Craig for years (I won’t say exactly HOW many years … but we’re high school friends). I hadn’t met Aimee until I recently visited their house to talk about the big day but after spending a few minutes with them together, it was pretty easy to see why Craig had asked her to marry him. They truly have perma-grins on their faces when they’re around each other.
They also brought along their baby, Chloe. (She’s a dog.) I’m pretty sure that for their guest book they should just use an album of Chloe bloopers from our time together.
Thanks Craig and Aimee for walking up icy stairs, climbing over snowy rocks, sitting on the cold ground and willingly doing everything else I asked you to do on this cold morning! I’m pumped to see everything you have in store for the wedding in September!

Do you remember back to when it was warm and sunny? No, I’m not talking about last weeks warm up in MN, but summer. I got behind on blogging sessions this last summer/fall but I still want to show them off!
This fun couple used to be neighbors of ours … before they had kids. I love to catch up with people after they’ve added bundles of energy (AKA … kids) to their family.
Thanks Brennen and Emily for the chance to spend some time with you all again!

I say every year that I’m not going to let it happen. I’m not going to get so busy in the fall that by the time the “slow season” comes around I’m so worn out that I neglect my blog. Um yeah, did you SEE the date on the last blog entry. Obviously history repeated itself again this year.
All that said, I’ve been busy working on making 2012 an amazing year. Meeting with potential wedding clients, preparing new albums for wedding couples, taking on a few personal photography projects, inventing new ideas for family sessions and working on some pretty awesome print/digital material to help clients prepare for their session and display their art afterwards.
I’ve also been soaking up as much family time as I can. For those of you who don’t know, in November I made the switch to full time mom/photographer and left my day job. Being home with anywhere between 1-3 kids while running my own business has been a bit of an adjustment but I think I’m starting to get the hang of it (Though, as I type this I have my son and his friend who are drilling me with questions on the different John Deere tractors we have and my daughter telling me how well she’s doing in her game of bowling on the Wii … they don’t understand the whole “mom is working” thing). I’m really excited to have the time available to take on more clients this year.
No post is complete without pictures … so I’ll leave you with pictures of Ethan James (or Thing 3 as we like to call him). When I was pregnant I’d dream of all the moments I’d capture of this third child … baby pictures, interactions with his older siblings, and all that comes with the excitement of having a new member of the family. Then … well, then life happened. It doesn’t help that this child doesn’t exactly care for the camera. When he was smaller, he’d turn and run the other way when I pulled out the camera. I feel really silly saying that because parents come to me all the time and say the exact same thing … and I still manage to win their kids over and get fun images showing their personality. I guess I just don’t have the touch with my own child. The other day, however, I managed to capture the many faces of Ethan as his older brother did all kinds of silly things. So here is our Thing 3 … drool and all.

Fall Session Update
Posted on October 11, 2011
I have mentioned this over on Facebook … but must mention it here as well … 2011 has been my busiest year ever. It’s amazing … YOU all are amazing! I sometimes leave a session and get giddy because I can’t believe that I have the chance to spend time with so many incredible families.
The flip side of this means that ALL of my October openings are booked. November is filling fast as well … only a few dates still remain. So if you’re looking for a session, email me for a November/December date and find a cute hat and mittens because there’s a chance it’ll be cold!!! (December sessions are not guaranteed to be edited and delivered before Christmas.)
And because I know people like pictures with the posts on here … this was the view I had one evening as I waited for a family to arrive for their session. It doesn’t get much better than this!

:: Weston and Liz ~ Married! :: Vermillion, MN Wedding Photographer
Posted on October 3, 2011
I will be totally honest, when Liz emailed me a little over a year ago about hiring me to shoot their wedding, I had no idea where Vermillion was (and actually thought she was talking about Lake Vermillion way up in northern MN). And while I’m sure Lake Vermillion would have given them a beautiful backdrop, it has nothing on the beautiful church they were married in in the TOWN of Vermillion (just a bit south of Hastings).
It was obvious from the get-go that, to Weston and Liz, this day wasn’t just about them. It was about families coming together, friends celebrating, and an amazingly supportive (and mischievous, I might add) wedding party.

This is quite neat! It must be a kind of flower but the stick is confusing me.
